SEASONS BY THE SUN

Centuries ago, noting the changes of the sun’s position throughout the year was important for practical reasons: to understand the small shifts in the earth to cue time for harvest, or to ready for the rains that would come. Used by farmers in Japan, and originating in China, these different periods of changes in weather or natural phenomena were structured into a calendar of twenty-four solar terms, or smaller “seasons” dictated by the sun across a year.

SEASONS BY THE SUN is a study on time; an interpretation and a guide to these ever-changing periods, and an invitation to notice the shifting, shedding, and blossoming as we move through the many seasons of our own lives.
